EVENT
Westchester Community College recently held its annual Greta Cohen
Personal Development Awards ceremony on the Valhalla campus to recognize the
progress made by students facing challenges during the course of their
education. Five students received $1,000 and two students received $500 each
to help them continue their education. The awards are named after Greta
Cohen, a retired faculty member.

Dr. Negar Farakish, Assistant Dean of Developmental Education at
Westchester Community College, received the National Association for
Developmental Education (NADE) Outstanding Thesis/Dissertation Award. Her
doctorial dissertation, Educating the Academically Underprepared, was
prepared at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Westchester Community College and CVS Caremark officially open a
Pharmacy Practice Laboratory for the school’s new pharmacy technician
program at the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) for underserved adults.
Reporters are invited to the event on Thursday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the
EOC location at 26 South Broadway in Yonkers.
